7in7 | Todd Agnew

7in7

Well, here we go. Most of you have never heard of 7in7 and that’s completely understandable. It is a week for songwriters, many of us friends from here in Austin, where everyone writes one song a day for seven days. So, that’s 7 songs in 7 days. 7in7. Today is day one. I’m really looking forward to it. I don’t do a lot of writing on a schedule, so this is going to be a different experience for me. I plan on posting pieces of what I’m working on throughout the week, so stay tuned. You can keep up with some of what is going on through Twitter using the hash tag #7in7. And if there are any songwriters out there, you’re welcome to jump into the journey with us. I’m looking forward to hearing new songs from Aaron Ivey, Miranda Dodson, Chris Collins, and even Chris Martin! (I didn’t even know Coldplay’s singer was from Denver. Okay, so maybe it’s a different Chris Martin, but we can pretend.)

So I’d appreciate your prayers over the next week. Well, I always appreciate your prayers, but over the next week, you can pray specifically for this. We’re about to start work on the next record, so some of these songs could even end up there. Either way, it’s definitely going to be a challenge. I’m looking forward to it. Stay tuned.

Todd

P.S. If anyone has any great song ideas, you can let me know. Just don’t tell the other guys!

Looking forward to the new songs God will give you! Praying for ya!

Sounds like both fun and torture. I’ll definitely be praying, and hoping God shows up as He has in the other songs you’ve written. Suggestions? It would be awesome to hear songs based on what you’ve been teaching/learning in Recovery.

Praying for you. Write a song about the pitfalls of success. It seems like the more God prospers our ministry, the more difficult life becomes. Flying under the radar; living a simple and obscure life seems terribly appealing at times.

By the way, I love your music.

Wow, I love challenges like this. I think that I worked better under pressure while I was in school and this would definitely be some pressure for me. As for ideas, that seems to be all that I have. I come up with ideas for songs all of the time, but I just can’t seem to finish any of them, no talent or time I suppose. I had a song idea about the verse you blogged about earlier, 1 Samuel. Talking about how God really “sees” a person for who they are in their heart and not just their physical traits. Another idea is called, In the Fire. This was inspired by the book of Daniel when Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were cast into the fiery furnace. How God will stand with you in the fire. Then I have a song called Humble Man where it is almost a prayer for God to teach this young man how to become a humble man. Since I’ve been working as a social worker with people who have a mental illness, I’ve come to learn that one of the symptoms of major depression is a feeling of worthlessness. The verses in Matthew 10:29-31 (King James Version) have inspired an idea of a song called, Even the Sparrow. This is about how no one is worthless in the eyes of God, because even the sparrow does not fall without the Father.

I get inspired just by everyday people and I pray that God will inspire you as well, and abundantly, as He most definitely has in the past! I look forward to hearing what has inspires you in the next week and the possibility of a new record!!
